About Me

Professor Mark McGurk

Mark McGurk provides a highly specialist service in oral/head and neck cancer, reconstruction and salivary gland disease. He is part of the North London Head and Neck Cancer Group and leads specialised surgical teams at some of the best hospitals in London.

His independent practice is at King Edward VII’s Hospital, London Bridge Hospital and The Harley Steet Clinic His NHS base is at University College London Hospital where his research and teaching is also based.

He uses the major resources of London teaching hospitals to develop and improve surgical techniques which he then disseminates through publications, lectures and courses for practicing surgeons, medical students and health professionals. He constantly evaluates the very latest technology with regard to its potential for improving surgical procedures.

He has helped to change the practice of salivary gland surgery away from excision to gland preservation surgery. His aim is to continue to advance and improve head and neck surgery overall, enabling smaller and less traumatic surgical techniques to be more widely available.
